FBC, Powell, TN/Barva, Costa Rica
A basketball team from FBC, Powell, TN came to work (May 9-16) with Pastor Pablo Ramirez and the Iglesia Templo Biblico Bautista in Barva, Heredia. The team of 10 participated in Sunday worship services, played 4 basketball games (2-2), visited 2 elementary schools and the high school in Barva. They gave personal testimonies, led basketball workshops, conversed in English classes, and showed an inspirational movie about "Pistol Pete Marovich". The final basketball game on Thursday evening was against the Barva team (4 times Costa Rican National Champions & 2 times Central American Champions). The Powell team lost that game, but competed well!

Idlewild Baptist Church On Mission In Costa Rica
What a great week! There were 97 adults that gave their lives to Christ this week. Our team worked in 2 villages, going door to door sharing Christ with those that would listen. It was obvious that the Holy Spirit was there ahead of us working and preparing hearts. It was such a hot and humid week and we were blessed that our team had very little sickness. They worked every day and most every evening we had events for children or showed the movie "Fireproof". What an impact this movie is having on people here. As well as going door to door every day, we were involved in a Baptism in which 11 people were baptized, church services, a baby dedication, a wedding and lots of events with children and the showing of the film twice. One day was dedicated to painting, putting screens on the windows, and re-wiring Pastor Jamie's house. Most of the team was made up of folks who had never been on a mission trip, what a difference this week has made in their lives. What a blessing the whole team was for Mike and Kathy!

Shades Mountain, Birmingham, AL on Mission in San Vito, Costa Rica
We had a wonderful team of 20 from Shades Mountain Bapt, Church this past week working in San Vito with Pastor, Carlos. The team was mostly a senior high youth group and several chaparones. Along with the Operation GO strategy of getting the Gospel in every home in this village, the team did a church growth seminar and a leadership conference for the small church. We were able to go into a school of about 300 children and the team did a skit and several small group activities. There were approx. 12 people saved this week. The team was a great encouragement to the pastor. The movie Fire Proof was shown on Thrusday night at the church.
Green River Bapt. Waynesboro, TN on Mission in Villa Real Costa Rica
A team of 8 from Green River Bapt. Church in Waynesboro, TN came and worked with Operation GO and pastor, Nelson Campos. There were 8 people who were saved this week. We visited 700 homes with a gift of The Gospel of John and an invition to the movie Fire Proof at the Church and also Facing The Giants at the community center. Many, many visitors came to both movies. We were allowed to show a children's film in 4 schools. Pastor Nelson was really encouraged by this team as they shared their faith. The team worked in extreme heat every day without complaints.

Auga Caliente
Gary & Ruth Hernes from Michigan along with Operation Go Team, Dave Brown, Susan Wright and the Kempers worked with a local pastor in a village, Auga Caliente, in Cartago this past week. This area is one of the most Catholic communities in Costa Rica. The pastor, Luis Arias, said that the area we worked in he would not be able to go into without our help. The people sometimes will listen to Gringos when they would never have listened to him. He led 9 people to Lord that week. Two of those were from the showing of the movie Facing the Giants. Praise God for all his blessings this week. DOUBLE CLICK ON PICTURE TO MAKE LARGER.

2009
We begin this new year with a pretty full calendar (see calendar on left side). But, we still have room for YOUR Church (see the open dates). We are so blest to have so many volunteers still planning to come and work in spite of the economic crunch. Some have had to cancel and we certainly understand. God knows what is best for all of us. We too are thankful that Kathy Kemper begins this year cancer free, Praise the Lord! To our Operation Go faithful Blog followers and volunteers, please pray for all those coming this year and the hearts that God is already making ready for their message of hope in Christ. We are looking forward to what God is going to do in Costa Rica this year 2009.
